Rajiv Surendra, the iconic Kevin G from the first movie, also showed up to the premiere, wearing a mathletes letterman’s jacket — a nod to his iconic character from the 2004 film.
Following the premiere, the actor spoke out about the new adaption of the movie, praising the cast and the script.
“So honored to be a part of the new @meangirls movie premiere tonight! Congrats to the new cast, y’all did a fantastic job!” Surendra wrote on Instagram after seeing the movie musical.

Fans of the film flooded the comments section, sharing that this “is a full circle moment” and “Glad they brought you back for the Red Carpet.”
While Surendra won’t be reprising his role as Kevin G in the 2024 musical adaption, his character will still be featured and will be played by Mahi Alam in the new version.
Another ‘Mean Girls’ fan commented, “Rajiv you’re glowing. Or should I say, ‘you’re like really pretty’,” as another chimed in with, “This is everything .”
Tina Fey and Tim Meadows of the original 2004 movie will reprise their characters of Ms. Norbury and Mr. Duvall in the upcoming musical movie adaption.
Cast Of ‘Mean Girls: The Musical’ Speaks Out On New Adaption
Angourie Rice will be portraying Cady Heron, the iconic character played by Lindsay Lohan in the 2004 movie. When at the premiere of the musical adaption, Rice admitted to PEOPLE that Lohan’s “performance in that [original] movie is, is one of my favorites. It’s so iconic.”
Adding, “It’s so nuanced and detailed. I just went into it hoping that this performance would add to the legacy of Cady Heron that’s very different.”
Auli’i Cravalho, who you may know as the voice of Moana in Disney’s animated film, ‘Moana’, will take on the role of Janis Ian, which she admits is nerve-wracking.
“I’m a friend and a fan of the original, and I’m not looking to remake the perfection that is Mean Girls from ’04,” the 23-year-old told the outlet at the premiere. “But when Tina Fey is a part of a project that is a re-imagination of ‘Mean Girls’ that also incorporates music from the Broadway musical, my little theater kid was over the moon. I was so excited to be a part of this.”
