Climate technology specialist Chooose is partnering with BP to help airlines reduce their carbon footprint.
The partnership involves an undisclosed investment from BP, although a Norwegian news outlet put the figure at more than $20 million.
Chooose, a PhocusWire Hot 25 Startup for 2023, and BP will work together to help airlines in initiatives including developing digital solutions to scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) programs.
The collaboration and investment will also help Chooose to expand its technology platform and increase product offerings.
Joseph Beaudin, chief customer officer at Chooose, said, “Chooose builds software to help large enterprises manage the increasing complexity of their decarbonization programs – this partnership integrates BP’s industry leading supply of lower carbon products into the Chooose platform, enabling Chooose to expand the range of compliance-related and voluntary products offered and to deliver more seamless experiences for our customers.”

Andreea Moyes, sustainability senior manager for Air BP, the aviation division of BP, said, “This partnership strengthens our ability to support customers in areas such as [compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)] and to explore pathways to scaling sustainable aviation fuel programs. I am looking forward to working with an established industry partner such as Chooose, as well as drawing on the wider expertise of colleagues across BP, to further support the aviation industry’s decarbonization ambitions.”
Norway-based Chooose announced funding of $15 million in January 2023. The company also sealed a number of deals and partnerships last year, including a new platform for JetBlue and the integration of carbon emissions calculations across booking and reporting tools for Amex GBT.
